LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Lufkin Police hope a string of convenience-store burglaries may come to an end after the Wednesday morning arrest of a Diboll man who they say was caught in the act.

According to Det. J.B. Smith, officers were staked out at various convenience stores throughout Lufkin to try to curb the burglaries which have occurred recently.

Smith said one officer, who was in an unmarked vehicle at Polk's Pick-It-Up, located at 1004 John Redditt Drive, witnessed a man, later identified as Shawn Moore, 34, of Diboll, come up on the left side of the building at 3:20 a.m. The officer then observed Moore come back to the front side and break the bottom glass and enter the building, Smith said.

The officer approached the store and ordered Moore to come out. Smith said Moore surrendered without incident.

Smith said police are investigating whether Moore is connected to other recent burglaries.

Moore is charged with burglary of a building. Bond has not yet been set.
