NACOGDOCHES, TX (Press release) - A burglar and thieves have plagued our county and several surrounding counties during recent months.  Thanks to the alertness of the caller in this case and the quick response of our officers, this suspect was caught in the act of burglarizing a home today along County Road #784 in Nacogdoches County.

At approximately 7:30 a.m. this morning (August 13th) deputies from the Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office arrested Steven Sanders, of Hallsville, TX,  for Burglary of a Habitation.  The Sheriff's Office received a 9-1-1 call from a person reporting that a white male who the caller was not familiar with had driven to a residence belonging to family members of the caller in a Red Dodge PU that was towing a trailer.

The caller stated that the homeowners were not present at the time. The caller then advised that the suspect (Sanders) had entered the residence and had began removing items from the residence and loading them onto his vehicles.

Although Sanders tried to flee the scene as the home owner and deputies arrived, he was stopped and taken into custody without resistance.  He is currently in the Nacogdoches County Jail awaiting bond.
