POLLOK, TX (KTRE) – Lots of BBQ, for a good cause.

The Central Volunteer Fire Department is raising money to better serve their community.

"The building, fuel, all that is very expensive and we have an old fleet of vehicles and it takes a lot of money to keep that going," said acting fire chief Dennis Cochran.

The fire department hopes to raise $4,000 to build their station's resources.

Part of the proceeds will also go to buying a new flag and plaque in honor of former fire chief, Donald Thornton, who died August 5th from an apparent heart attack.

Both will be displayed proudly, in front of the station.

If you would like to make a donation to the Central Volunteer Fire Department, or to the family of Donald Thornton, you can mail or drop off donations at P.O. Box 66 in Pollok, Texas.
