Man dies in Shelby Co. wreck; wife in critical condition

SHELBY COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - SHELBY COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - A Louisiana man died Monday afternoon while pulling out of a driveway and in front of an oncoming 18-wheeler, according to a DPS report.

The report states Harold G. Veuleman, 72, of Manny, was driving a 2008 Ford F-150 and pulling out of a private drive to go south on state highway 87. He was hit by a northbound 2009 Peterbilt truck driven by Troy Jason Massey, of Nacogdoches at 3:26 p.m.

Veuleman's passenger, Charlette Veuleman, 78, was injured in the wreck. She was taken to a Longview hospital where she is listed in critical condition.

The wreck occurred about a mile south of Loop 500 in Center. Neither victim was wearing a seatbelt, the report stated.
