Lufkin man seriously injured in motorcycle wreck

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A Lufkin man was flown by helicopter to a Tyler hospital after he was hit by a driver who ran a red light, according to Lufkin Police.

Officer Alberto Ibarra said Michael Ferrigno, 55, was driving a motorcycle west on Denman Avenue when he was hit by Thomas Anderson, who is in his 80s and was driving a GMC pickup and was traveling south on South First Street. Anderson had run a red light, Ibarra said.

A helicopter was called to the scene and transported Ferrigno to a Tyler hospital. He is listed in serious condition.

Ferrigno was wearing a helmet, Ibarra said.
