LUFKIN/NACOGDOCHES (Press release) – Local DJs are inviting the community to love on East Texas' furry friends at local animal shelters on Thursday, August 19, 2010.

DJs from 90.9 KSWP and 91.9 KAVX are hosting the Love Out Loud event: The Dog Days of Summer and are requesting volunteers to help walk dogs, clean out cages, and socialize puppies and kittens. People can also donate pet food and newspapers at the shelters.

DJs will be volunteering at the following animal shelters:

10am - 12 PM  Kurth Memorial Animal Shelter, morning show co-hosts Al and Michelle and 12pm  - 2 PM at the Humane Society of Angelina County, midday DJ Tim Swanson and from 2 PM - 4 PM   Nacogdoches Animal Shelter, afternoon DJ Drew Wilson

Jamie Shelton, Administrator at the Nacogdoches Animal Shelter and Adoption Center shared, "This Love Out Loud event allows organizations to convey how important volunteerism is to the community.  Being in an animal shelter environment, accepting volunteers into our organization means that the animals get to enjoy human interaction that may not be possible without our dedicated volunteers."
