CENTER- (KTRE) – For the Center Roughriders football team they have one goal in mind this season they want to be practicing thanksgiving morning. Last year's team went 8-4 before losing to Lorena 13-10 in the second round of the UIL playoffs.
"Well our number one deal as we just spoke yesterday is we have to get ourselves prepared to be practicing during the thanksgiving break they got a good taste of playoffs. I love my wife and family but I love being up here during that thanksgiving break. That will energize this city in itself," Center second year football coach Kevin Goodwin said.
Realignment ousts Carthage from the district in Class 3 district 18. But Kirbyville enters and is slated to be very good. The district title may be decided in the regular season finale November 5th when Center plays at Kirbyville.
Coach Goodwin realizes that his team can't worry about every other team in the district they have to go out and control their own destiny and set the tone right away week zero August 27th.
Number one priority is that we take care of ourselves we feel we have enough kids with enough skill that if we play well we will be able to play with anyone. We still have to play Carthage and Rusk but we just have them earlier, coaches do a great job of game planning and if players do a great job of executing everything will be fine.
Center will host next Friday night August 27th when they host Rusk at 7:30pm to kickoff the 2010 season.
