Senator Plugs Child Tax Credit for Low-income Families

Arkansas Senator Blanche Lincoln says low-income families were unfairly squeezed out of the tax-cut package President Bush signed this week.

In the Democrats' weekly radio address, Lincoln said "we should fix this problem immediately."

She says she'll introduce legislation next week to restore child tax credits to low-income families.

The tax-cut measure gives most families a 400-dollar check for each child. But a provision that would have extended that benefit to families with annual incomes under 26-thousand dollars was dropped from the final bill. Families in that income category pay little or no tax.
