Three illegal immigrants have been found dead in a sweltering railcar in Texas. Two of their companions had escaped and went for help but it was too late.
The survivors said the others were too weak to get out.
Union Pacific had been looking for the three immigrants since yesterday when officials learned about those left behind in the rail car at La Coste, near San Antonio.
The car was eventually found in a railyard in Baytown, a town near Houston and more than 240 miles east of La Coste, but by then the immigrants were dead.
The surviving riders said they voluntarily boarded the train and that there were no smugglers involved.
Last month, more than 70 immigrants were found in a stifling truck trailer in south Texas. Seventeen were dead at the scene and two more died after being hospitalized.
