LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) – It's never too late to help save a life. Saturday, several willing donors attended the twelve hour blood drive at the Lufkin Carter BloodCare Center.

The event was called Huntin' for donors, giving hunters the chance to win all sorts of hunting gear, including a deer stand.

Carter BloodCare holds two marathon drives each year to help boost donations during the greatest months of need.

"37% of people in the country are eligible to donate but only about 10% of those actually do donate so about 3.7% of the population donates for 100% that need it," said volunteer and Special Programs Coordinator for Carter BloodCare, Scott Justus.

If you'd like to become a regular donor, contact the Carter BloodCare Center for more information.
