Carthage is the home of country music stars Tex Ritter and Jim Reeves, making it the perfect place for the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame. The 2010 inductees included country music star George Jones, musician-songwriter Al Dexter of "Pistol Packin Mama" fame, and Ray Winkler, who wrote "Welcome To My World." Winkler passed away in 1998 and Dexter in 1984. Family members represented them at the induction ceremony.

Country music fans at this year's celebration were treated to performances by George Jones and Mel Tillis, a country music superstar in his own right.
