LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A Joaquin man received a 15-year prison sentence for his role in robbery attempts one night in February.

Bryan Wayne Rice, 21, pleaded guilty to the crime earlier this year.

According a previous report, four men approached a man in a parking lot of Deer Cross Apartments on the 3000 block of South First Street around midnight. The victim was sitting in his vehicle when the four approached him and asked him for drugs. The victim told the suspects he did not know what they were talking about.

The suspects then pointed a pistol at him and asked him if he had ever been robbed. The report stated the victim fled the area in his vehicle and the suspects followed him until they reached the 100 block of North Medford Drive.

Later that night the report states four suspects who matched the descriptions of the attempted robbery then attempted to rob Polk's Pick It Up on the 900 block of Medford Drive.

According to the report, the suspects, wearing ski masks, pointed a pistol at a store employee, removed money from a cash register and fled the area.

A Lufkin Police officer stopped the suspects' vehicle near the store. They were possessing cash, pistol and ski masks, the report stated.

Also arrested were William Toburen, Justin Ryan Thompson and Ronald Mack Fuentes, Jr.
