ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Attorneys wrapped up final pre-trial motions Friday for an upcoming murder trial of a Hawkins man accused in the stabbing death of an Angelina County man.

The prosecution and defense divulged the names of expert witnesses for the trial.

Jury selection is set for Sept. 7.

Thomas Hugh Fielder Jr., 40, is accused of stabbing Gary Lynn Defratus, 47, multiple times at his home on County Road 213, which is just outside of Huntington.

Fielder was arrested in Quitman on Dec. 24.

Fielder's case is one of six pending murder cases involving seven individuals that are pending in Angelina County.

"Our evidence typically goes to a Texas Department of Public Safety laboratory along with the evidence of other counties who submit their cases, so it has to wait its turn generally and even when all the testing is done, of course, we have a number of cases on our docket," said Art Bauereiss, a prosecutor with the Angelina County District Attorney's Office.
