Sharon Says Victory Over Terrorism is at Hand

Ariel Sharon says victory over terrorism is at hand.

The Israeli prime minister was addressing rebellious members of his party today in Jerusalem.

Sharon was booed throughout his speech at the Likud convention. Many party members are unhappy with him for embracing a US-sponsored Mideast peace plan.

Sharon told the unruly crowd that the terror war against Israel has failed.

His comments came on the same day five Israelis were killed in Palestinian attacks.

Sharon repeated his demand that the Palestinian government headed by Prime Minister Mahmoud Abbas crack down on militant groups. But he didn't refer to today's attacks in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
