LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - An 18-year-old man's claim that he was just looking for a friend did not hold weight with police and ended with his arrest, according to an arrest affidavit.
According to the report, a resident on the 700 block of Culverhouse Drive in Lufkin said he heard a noise coming from the back of his house at around 9:20 a.m. Thursday. When he went to see what the noise was he saw a man trying to get into his house through a back window.
The report states the victim yelled at him and went outside to confront him, but the suspect and another man ran away.
Police officers arrived at the scene and determined the pair ran to a home on the 200 block of West Laurel Avenue. Police arrived at that house and identified the suspect as Anthony Carl Lowe, 18, according to the report.
Police interviewed Lowe, who said he did open the back window, but only to look for a friend, who he named as the victim's daughter, according to the report. The victim said his daughter was in school and Lowe should have known that.
The report states other stolen property was found in Lowe's room.
Lowe is charged with attempted burglary of a habitation.
