LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) – After responding to a near head on collision late Friday night, police say a Lufkin driver traveling with her three small children was cited for having an open alcohol container in her vehicle. A DWI with child charge is pending.
According to the police report, the accident happened shortly before 11 p.m. on College Drive near the intersection of Daniel McCall Drive.
The report stated 19-year-old Mayra Hernandez and her three children, ages one, two and three, were traveling in a white Pontiac when Hernandez crossed the centerline and struck a Ford, driven by 77-year-old Paul Crye of Lufkin along with passenger Mildred Srubar, 88-years-old.
The report stated both Crye and Srubar were transported to Memorial Hospital. According to hospital staff, they have been released.
Police say Hernandez and all three of her children were transported to Woodland Heights Hospital. Hospital staff said they were treated for minor injuries and released.
The report stated Hernandez was issued citations for fail to maintain a single lane, no driver's license and no insurance. She was also cited for having an open alcohol container, and faces three counts of improperly restrained child.
