Saddam Seen Near Baghdad, Paying for Dead Americans

An Iraqi exile leader says Saddam Hussein is alive and well -- and paying top-dollar for killing American troops.

The leader of the Iraqi National Congress says Saddam has been spotted in several locations -- north of Baghdad and near his hometown of Tikrit. He says Saddam reportedly has more than one billion dollars in cash -- taken from Iraq's Central Bank back in March.

And the exile leader, Ahmed Chalabi, says some of that money is being spent on bounty payments for any American soldier killed. He says Saddam is bent on revenge.

Pentagon officials say that's news to them. They say they have no information that Saddam is alive, or that he's offering bounties for killing U.S. troops.

Chalabi is often mentioned as a possible future leader of Iraq. He spoke in New York this morning.
