Forged Check Sends Recently Released Inmate Back to Jail

The check in the mail apparently wasn't enough for one recently released inmate.

So he allegedly changed the amount from 20 cents to 502 dollars, stamped his thumbprint on the check and cashed it.

Now George Gonzales Junior is back in a Texas jail, two months after he was released.

He was charged with forgery after sheriff's deputies received a bank statement indicating that his 20 cent check had been altered and cashed.

The 20 cent check was for the balance remaining in his inmate trust account at the Jourdanton jail.
