LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - An observant witness is being credited for helping authorities to possibly solving a string of car burglaries in Lufkin on Friday.
According to Lufkin Police Det. J.B. Smith, the witness saw three males burglarize a vehicle around 2 p.m. at Lufkin Mall and was able to give authorities a description of the car and the suspects and a license plate number.
A DPS trooper then found the suspect car at Stephen Court Apartments, on the 1200 block of E. Denman Avenue, and apprehended three suspects, Smith said.
Smith said Lufkin Police the three, which are one juvenile and two 17-year-olds.
Smith said authorities are also investigating another car burglary at Lufkin Mall, as well as one at Livewell, under the assumption the suspects were connected to them, too.
For now the two adults will be charged with burglary, but Smith said that could be upgraded to organized criminal activity if they are charged with the other two burglaries.
