Police: Lufkin man runs stop sign, evades arrest, caught with drugs

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A Lufkin man holding drugs did not do much to avoid drawing attention to himself by running a stop sign Friday night, according to police.

According to the report, an officer observed Demario Jenoid Hill, 21, driving a Toyota Camry and running a stop sign at the intersection of Chestnut Street and Third Street at 9:45 p.m. The officer attempted to have Hill pulled over, but Hill ignored the emergency lights and siren and continued driving to the 300 block of Abney Avenue, according to the report.

Hill then got out of his car and fled on foot, eventually getting caught on the 200 block of Scarborough Street, the report states. Officer say they found Hill to be in possession of marijuana and cocaine.

Hill was booked into the Angelina County Jail on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and evading arrest.
