LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Lufkin Police had to surround a building in order to arrest a man Tuesday morning in connection to an attempted burglary of a woman's home.

According to police spokesman Det. J.B. Smith, the resident of a house on the 100 block of Westmoreland Street said she heard someone trying to get into her house and caught a man, later identified as Michael Jerome Teel, 22, of Lufkin, trying to enter her residence.

When officers arrived, they saw Teel nearby. When Teel saw them, he ran across Raguet Street and into a multi-resident building located at the intersection of North Raguet Street and Henderson Street, Smith said.

Several officers surrounded the building to make sure Teel did not escape, then went into the building and arrested Teel.

Smith said Teel will either be charged with burglary or attempted burglary, in addition to evading arrest and two outstanding warrants for delivery of a controlled substance.
