Softball team helping bring awareness against breast cancer

LUFKIN- (KTRE) – October is breast cancer awareness month and a young softball team is helping raise awareness by wearing pick uniforms for the entire month.  Pink is the color that signifies breast cancer supporter or awareness.  Bad Attitude 00 an East Texas based softball team of ten and under girls is trying to help spread the word.

"Some of these children have lost loved ones to breast cancer itself, so there is a lot of personal stories here just as well as anything else and we know that through teaching kids at young ages to be aware of things like breast cancer and giving back to society," Brent Hawkins said a proud parent.

"I'm glad that we could start off with this age group and show the awareness with our community that softball is a sport and that the young girls are out showing their support," Cindy Pope said a proud mother.

The team may be called bad attitude across their chest, but in their hearts these girls know the key to help stop this deadly disease is to spread awareness.
