10/7/2010 Lufkin Police Report

10-05-2010 Firearm/Shots Fired 200 Block Brooks Street

At approximately 10:00 P.M. on Wednesday, October 06, 2010, Lufkin Police Department Officers responded to a residence located in the 200 block of Brooks Street in reference to reported loud music and a gunshot.  According to the report, the Officers found that the male resident of that residence was the source of the music and the gunshot; the male admitted to the Officers that he used a shotgun to shot at a bird in a tree directly overhead of him.  City of Lufkin Code of Ordinances §130.05 states that it is a Class C Misdemeanor offense for any person to discharge within the city any firearm, so the Officers collected the shotgun and the incident will be referred to Lufkin Municipal Court.

10-05-2010 Welfare Concern 800 Block Conn Avenue

At approximately 9:15 P.M. on Wednesday, October 06, 2010, Lufkin Police Department Officers responded to a welfare concern regarding an unattended child.  According to the report, three witnesses stated that they found a two-year-old child walking unattended in the roadway in the 800 block of Conn Avenue and that soon after they saw the child's father, who lives in the 800 block of Conn Avenue, looking for the child.  The report stated that the child apparently wondered away from its residence but was uninjured and was returned to its parents.  The report stated that the Officers contacted Child Protective Services (CPS) and that a CPS Investigator will contact the family on October 07, 2010.

10-05-2010 Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle 4600 South Medford Drive

On Wednesday, October 06, 2010, a complainant reported to Lufkin Police Department that between 7:30 P.M. and 9:00 P.M. that date an unidentified actor(s) stole the complainant's vehicle from the parking lot of Lufkin Mall, located in the 4600 block of South Medford Drive.  According to the report, the complainant stated that at the time of the incident she could not locate the vehicle's key and may have lost it after parking the vehicle.  According to the report, the complainant described the vehicle as a red 2006 Toyota Corolla four-door with a yellow butterfly hanging from its rearview mirror, two Marine Corp. stickers at its rear, a scratch and small dent near its fuel tank filler door, and a loose bumper cover.  The report stated that the vehicle was submitted to the state and national stolen vehicle databases and the incident was referred for further investigation.  Anyone with information concerning the theft of this vehicle should contact Crime Stoppers at (936) 639-TIPS or online at www.LufkinCrimeStoppers.com.

10-05-2010 Criminal Mischief 100 Block North Timberland Drive

On Wednesday, October 06, 2010, a complainant reported to Lufkin Police Department that between 9:00 P.M. and 10:00 P.M. that date an unidentified actor(s) scratched the paint of the complainant's vehicle while the vehicle was parked in the parking lot of HEB grocery store, located in the 100 block of North Timberland Drive.  The report stated that the complainant identified a possible suspect and that the incident was referred for further investigation.

10-05-2010 Assault/C 1900 Block West Frank Avenue

On Wednesday, October 06, 2010, a female complainant reported to Lufkin Police Department that she was assaulted by a known male suspect.  According to the report, the complainant stated that multiple times during the previous two weeks a male co-worker touched her in an offensive and provocative manner at their place of employment, a restaurant located in the 1900 block of West Frank Avenue.  The report stated that the incident was referred for further investigation.

10-05-2010 Burglary/Habitation 800 Block Feagin Drive

On Wednesday, October 06, 2010, a complainant reported to Lufkin Police Department that between 7:30 A.M. and 1:00 P.M. that date an unidentified actor(s) burglarized the complainant's residence, located in the 800 block of Feagin Drive.  According to the report, the complainant stated that the actor(s) forced entry into the residence by damaging a window and removed from within the residence a 27-inch flat-screen television, assorted rings and necklaces, a pair of shoes, and a box containing cosmetics.  According to the report, a neighbor stated to the complainant that a Hispanic male wearing a green shirt was seen near the complainant's residence at approximately 9:00 A.M. that date, but the neighbor did not witness the subject enter into the complainant's yard or residence.  The report stated that the incident was referred for further investigation.

10-05-2010 Theft/C 400 Block South Chestnut Street

On Wednesday, October 06, 2010, an employee of a business located in the 400 block of South Chestnut Street reported to Lufkin Police Department that at approximately 11:30 A.M. that date two unidentified suspects stole merchandise from within the business.  According to the report, the employee stated that they witnessed the female suspects conceal clothes within a purse and then exit the business without making payment.  The report stated that when confronted outside of the business by the employee, the suspects returned the stolen clothes and fled on-foot from the area.  The report stated that the employee attempted to follow the suspects but lost sight of them prior to the arrival of Lufkin Police Department Officers; the incident was referred for further investigation.
