LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A shoplifting crime normally classified as a misdemeanor has turned into a felony charge for a Lufkin woman accused of stealing about $70 worth of clothes from a department store.
As Crystal Dawn Havard, 29, has been convicted on at least two theft offenses, she is now charged with a state jail felony theft offense.
According to the Lufkin Police report, officers were summoned to Sears, located at Lufkin Mall, at 5 p.m. Wednesday, by a Sears loss prevention employee who said he saw Havard hide clothes in her purse before leaving the store. The employee said he detained Havard in the mall and escorted her back to Sears.
Havard was booked into the Angelina County Jail on the charge.
