ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - A Lufkin man was arrested early Monday after Angelina County Sheriff's deputies say he injured a woman by striking her on the head with a handgun.
According to an arrest affidavit, a deputy responded to a call on Sunday from a woman saying someone was at a residence on the 3900 block of FM 819 with a weapon. When the deputy arrived, he saw a man, later identified as Anthony Nathan Blake, 44, on the front porch and a woman inside the bedroom lying on the floor with a towel to her head.
According to the report, the deputy learned the two were in a verbal altercation so Blake began gathering his belongings. He then grabbed a handgun from underneath a mattress and struck the woman in the head with it, the affidavit states. The injury on her head was consistent with her story.
Blake was booked into the Angelina County Jail early Monday with a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
