LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Two Lufkin parents have been arrested and charged with allowing their two-year-old child to wander on the road on at least two occasions, according to police.
The arrest affidavit states a man was driving his truck on the 800 block of Conn Street on Sept. 27, around 9 p.m., when he noticed the child in the middle of the road wearing only a diaper. He stopped the truck to keep from striking her and got out. Residents at a nearby home came outside and also saw the child. One took the child to their house and called police.
About 10 minutes later, Jennifer Ann Ramos, 31, came from her house up the road and asked the witnesses if they had seen her child, the affidavit states. One of the witnesses told her about the situation and Ramos took her child back to her home and waited on police.
The father of the child, La-Rinzo Leon Davis, 32, was at the front of the house waiting for Ramos, according to the report.
Police arrived and interviewed the witnesses and the parents, who said they were inside their house and did not realize their daughter was missing, according to the report.
The affidavit states both parents have extensive criminal histories and a history with Child Protective Services, and while the case was being investigated, the child again got out of the house on Oct. 6, around 9 p.m. and found on Conn Street near Loving Toyota by some other neighbors.
Ramos was booked in the Angelina County Jail on Tuesday on a charge of child endangerment. Davis was arrested on the same charge on Oct. 7.
