LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A Lufkin man caught in the act of burglarizing a home tried to get away by punching a police officer now faces more criminal charges, according to police.
Lufkin Police spokesman Lt. David Young said a witness called police out to a home on the 100 block of Judith Street at 12:50 p.m. Wednesday after seeing a burglary in progress.
An officer arrived on the scene and caught Hershel McKail Criswell, 47, in the home and attempted to arrest him, but Criswell punched the officer in the face, Young said. The officer managed to take Criswell into custody and was not seriously hurt.
Criswell was booked into the Angelina County Jail on charges of burglary, assault on a peace officer and resisting arrest.
