Diboll 'Prankster' pleads guilty without a deal

DIBOLL, TX (KTRE) - DIBOLL, Texas (KTRE) - A Diboll man who has admitted to taking part in a national prank ring pleaded guilty Friday morning to tricking a McDonald's employee into breaking the windows of the business in June 2009.

James Tyler Markle, 20, said in a previous interview that he had agreed to a plea deal with the Angelina County District Attorney's Office. However, District Attorney Clyde Herrington said that deal was off the table, so on Friday Markle decided to leave his fate in District Judge Barry Bryan's hands.

Bryan will issue a sentence for Markle following a pre-sentence investigation.

In June 2009, Markle called a Lufkin McDonald's and tricked an employee to activate the fire extinguishers and break four windows, costing the business thousands of dollars.

He's currently on three years probation for a similar incident at Jefferson Parish Wendy's in Louisiana.
