ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) – Only three weeks into their campaign, the Angelina County United Way has reached 28 percent of their $540,000 goal.
The barometer doesn't measure the pressure, it measures generosity.
Division chairs and volunteers gathered Friday morning for the traditional painting of the barometer in the Lufkin Mall parking lot.
The 63rd campaign goal is up about $15,000 from last year's target. However, campaign volunteers are optimistic they'll reach it.
The Lufkin State Supported Living Center said they've been selling rolls and Frito pies to raise money.
"It's a part of the community efforts and we love to participate within the community and make a difference, so it's our chance during the year to do that," said Lynn Hopper with the Lufkin State Supported Living Center.
The deadline is next month and the organization has never missed a goal. More than 20 agencies benefit from the money raised.
