ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - A Huntington man determined to track down someone else was arrested Monday evening when deputies say he fired a gun in the direction of another person.

According to the report, James Arthur Parrott, 42, was on Rayburn Shores Drive, located off Hanks Creek Road, with a group of people, demanding to know where an individual was who was not there. He then began firing a revolver-style pistol in the direction of someone else that was there, who hid behind a tree, the report states.

Deputies were called to the scene at 5:15 p.m. They arrived at the same time Parrott was trying to leave. Deputies, with assistance from officers with Huntington and Zavalla Police Departments, took Parrott into custody.

Sgt. Bart Riley explained that deputies determined that Parrott is charged for now with deadly conduct, since he fired three shots toward the individual only to scare them and not trying to hit them.

He is also charged with possession of marijuana. The report states while he was being transported to the jail, he explained to the deputy that he had marijuana in his shoe.

Riley said other charges are pending in the case, as it is still under investigation.
