LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Polk Oil Company head Carl Ray Polk Jr. is resigning as senior manager at Brookshire Brothers/Polk Oil.
According to a company e-mail from CEO Jerry Johnson, Polk will remain an active member of the company's various boards and will be available as a consultant to the company.
Polk released a statement about his resignation.
"This decision has been a very difficult one for me, but I strongly feel that it is the right move for me at this point in my life. Romy and I are not going anywhere; Lufkin has been our home for many years and will continue to be. "
"My current duties will be reassigned to some very competent and knowledgeable people who have worked for us for many years. I am confident that this will be a seamless transition and that the business will continue to be run smoothly and professionally. I look forward to being active on the Board of Directors and helping Brookshire Brothers and Polk Oil grow and expand in the future."
Polk joined his family's business in 1989 after graduating from the University of Texas. Polk Oil Company merged with Brookshire Brothers in 2007 and Polk stayed on to manage Polk Oil as a separate subsidiary.
