Former Polk Co. deputy dies in wreck

CHEROKEE COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - CHEROKEE COUNTY, Texas (KTRE) - A former Polk County Sheriff's Office deputy was killed in a vehicle wreck Saturday night.

According to the Department of Public Safety report, Randal Bridges, 52, of Corrigan, was driving southbound at 9:55 p.m. on U.S. 69 North, six miles south of Alto. He approached a curve, lost control of his 2008 Dodge pickup and rolled over. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:23 p.m.

He was wearing a seatbelt and a DPS trooper described the driving conditions as rainy.

A dispatcher with the Polk County Sheriff's Office confirmed Bridges was a former deputy with that department.
