LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - A Lufkin man was arrested for driving a stolen vehicle Sunday, even though he claimed to have rented it from a third person.
According to the police report, the owner of a 2001 Chevy Silverado reported his vehicle was stolen the night before from a residence located in the 1100 block of Paul Avenue. The owner then told police at around 9:45 a.m. Sunday that he had located it in the parking lot of M&B Food Store, located in the 700 block of North Raguet Street.
The driver of the vehicle, Max Ronel Blackshire, 45, told police he had rented the vehicle from another person and was not involved in the theft of it.
Police found Blackshire to have two outstanding warrants from Lufkin Municipal Court for traffic offense and he was booked into the Angelina County Jail for the warrants and for unauthorized use of a vehicle.
Police continue to investigate the theft of the vehicle.
