10/28/2010 Lufkin Police Report

10-28-2010    Assault              1200 Block Cain Street

On Thursday, October 28, 2010, a complainant reported to Lufkin Police Department that at approximately midnight that date a known male suspect threatened to assault her in the 1200 block of Cain Street.  The report stated that Lufkin Police Department Officers were unable to locate the suspect and that the incident was referred for further investigation.

10-27-2010    Burglary/Vehicle       2100 Block Lowry Street

On Wednesday, October 27, 2010, a complainant reported to Lufkin Police Department that between 7:30 P.M. and 9:00 P.M. that date an unidentified actor(s) burglarized the complainant's vehicle while the vehicle was parked in the parking lot of St. Patrick Catholic Church, located in the 2100 block of Lowry Street.  According to the report, the complainant stated that the actor(s) forced entry into the vehicle by damaging one of the vehicle's windows and removed from within the vehicle a Pioneer brand car radio.  The report stated that the incident was referred for further investigation.

10-27-2010    Assault              900 Block South Third Street

On Wednesday, October 27, 2010, a complainant reported to Lufkin Police Department that at approximately 6:30 P.M. that date a known female suspect assaulted her in the common area of Alamo apartment complex, located in the 900 block of South Third Street.  According to the report, the complainant stated that the suspect hit her and pulled her hair because the complainant was speaking with a male subject.  The report stated that the incident was referred for further investigation.

10-27-2010    Burglary/Habitation     500 Block Trout Street

On Wednesday, October 27, 2010, a complainant reported to Lufkin Police Department that between 6:15 A.M. and 4:30 P.M. that date an unidentified actor(s) burglarized the complainant's residence, located in the 500 block of Trout Street.  According to the report, the complainant stated that the actor(s) forced entry into the residence by damaging an entry door and removed from within the residence a Sony brand fifty-four-inch television, a Sony brand PSP handheld gaming system, and currency.  The report stated that the incident was referred for further investigation.

Missing Person Darrell Gene Grice has been located and safely returned to his family. 

At approximately 10:00 P.M. on Wednesday, October 27, 2010, Mr. Grice appeared at Crockett State School in Crockett, Texas seeking directions to Lufkin, and an alert State School employee contacted Crockett Police Department.  Crockett Police Department Officers confirmed that Mr. Grice was the subject of the Silver Alert issued earlier that date and notified Lufkin Police Department of Mr. Grice's location and safe status.  Lufkin Police Department contacted Mr. Grice's family, who then traveled to Crockett to pick up Mr. Grice.

Lufkin Police Department Detective JB Smith said; "Lufkin PD thanks everyone involved in locating Mr. Grice and safely returning him to his family.  Through local and regional media outlets and the Silver Alert system, we were able to quickly get out an alert about Mr. Grice being missing; the public received that alert and watched for Mr. Grice."

    James Henderson's defense attorney, Stanley Sokolowski, started off the third day of court by questioning the state's witness, Investigator Bill Rulland. The cross examination lasted most of the morning and even a little into the afternoon.     More than a few tar-covered tires are hanging on to the parking lot of a Lufkin tire shop.  On August 31, newly laid asphalt on Loop 287 started sticking to tires of those driving, leaving many of the cars un-driveable. As of Friday, the Texas Department of Transportation hadn't come out with an official cause for the incident, but that hasn't stopped over 600 people from filing claims with them.     Deputies with the Trinity County Sheriff’s Office made two felony drug arrests and seized marijuana, Prometh VC with codeine, hydrocodone, Alprazolam, and ecstasy after a traffic stop near the intersection of Robb and Jefferson streets late Tuesday night.
