LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - Lufkin Police have arrested a man and apprehended two juveniles in connection to several car burglaries.
Because the case involved juveniles, Lufkin Police have declined to comment.
According to an arrest warrant affidavit, police were called to Rushwood Drive at 2 a.m. Sunday in reference to several subjects attempting to break into vehicles. When an officer arrived on the scene, he saw a man, identified as Sergio Fabian Perez, 25, walking down the road, wearing a pair of batting gloves and a red jacket, which the caller identified as one of the suspects, according to the report.
When the officer confronted Perez, Perez acted as if he was about to run, so the officer took him to the ground and placed him in handcuffs. At that time, a parked vehicle cranked up and drove off. The officer suspected the people in the vehicle were Perez's partners in crime, so he called in a vehicle description to other officers who quickly located the vehicle.
Officers located many items in the vehicle which they believed were stolen, including car stereos and cameras. They also located a GPS device which an officer had just taken a stolen report on, and a Nintendo game which was also reported stolen.
The two people in the car were juveniles and were taken to LPD, where the juvenile detention center was contacted.
Perez and the two juveniles are charged with engaging in organized criminal activity.
