Lufkin man stopped for reckless driving gets drug charge

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - Lufkin Police arrested a man on a drug charge and other offenses after an officer witnessed him passing about 20 cars on the wrong side of the road Monday evening.

According to the Lufkin Police report, Kendrick Lamon Holeman, 34, tried to pass the cars, which were stopped for a traffic light at the intersection of Angelina Street and Denman Avenue. The officer chased Holeman at a speed approximately 40 miles per hour in a 30-mile-an-hour zone, the report states.

Holeman stopped his vehicle in the 200 block of House Avenue and was arrested at about 5:30 p.m. Following the arrest, officers found approximately .2 grams of crack cocaine in his vehicle, the report states.

Holeman was booked in the Angelina County Jail on charges of possession of a controlled substance, evading arrest and reckless driving.
