by Stuart Burson

A demolition worker from Huntington was killed Saturday following a building collapse in Alabama.

Darrel Sallas was part of a demolition crew weakening girders on the bottom floor of an eight story building near Mobile.

Ken Atha, the Mobile area director for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration says they are actively investigating the incident.

Sallas was working for a New Jersey company demolishing the building, owned by the BASF Corporation, when the building collapsed prematurely.
