Lone Oak, TX (CNN) - A local lawnmower shop is about more than an honest repair at an honest price; it's about friendships that endure.
Paul Giroux runs Wayne's Lawnmower Shop. He learned the business and took over for his father. "He liked to argue. He liked to fight," said Giroux. "That's my Dad, that's what made him cool."
In June, Wayne Giroux was killed by a drunk driver. Even though he could be cranky at times, he was lucky enough to have the loyalty of more than one best friend. There's his son, and then his dog, Spot.
At the same time, every day, Spot hangs around a country road waiting for Wayne to come home. "I have no doubt that's what she's waiting for," said Paul. "It breaks my heart every time I go over there."
Twice a day, Spot leaves her post when Paul looks in on her, but he knows it's not him the dog really wants to see. "If you can ever find anything that loves you that much, it's the most precious gift in the world."
It is possible, one day, Spot might give up. But Paul doesn't think so.
