ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

ANGELINA COUNTY, Texas (KTRE) - Two Diboll brothers were taken to jail together on a charge of stealing an outside air and heat unit from an Angelina County church.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, David Odell Reppond, 34, and his brother, Daniel Adam Reppond, 26, stole the unit from Concord Baptist Church, located at 203 FM 2743. A person caught them loading it into an older model blue Dodge van and confronted them.

While the person was talking to David Reppond, Daniel Reppond slashed the tire on their vehicle, according to the report. When the person left to check on their vehicle, the brothers left in the van, the report stated.

Deputy Chris Wade was dispatched the church on a theft-in-progress call, just after 8 a.m. Tuesday. When Wade arrived, he learned the vehicle had left the scene with the unit.

Wade located the suspect vehicle at 8:20 a.m., traveling northbound on FM 2109, and stopped it, with Sheriff Kent Henson's help.

Henson and Wade found the unit in the back of the van and arrested the brothers.

Both are charged with a third-degree felony of theft, which was enhanced because they allegedly stole from a non-profit organization. Daniel Reppond is also charged with a misdemeanor offense of criminal mischief on the accusation of slashing the tire.
