NACOGDOCHES (KTRE) – Our Jack of the Week is a red shirt freshman who has thrived on his opportunity of getting a chance to play. Keith Lawson from San Antonio, Texas has found a home with the SFA Lumberjacks. After signing with the Air Force Prep School out of high school he didn't dig on Colorado and decided that he needed to transfer and get back to his home state. The "Jacks saw his film and invited him out, and the rest as they say is history.
"I got red shirted last year I haven't had many opportunities this year, Romonte went down so I was able to step up and have a good game," Lawson said.
That he did he rushed last week against Nicholls state ten times for 76 yards and one touchdown leading SFA ground game in the 48-13 blowout victory.
"The o-line did a real good job the whole game I only played the first half and they blocked really well and I was able to do get out there and do some good things."
Lawson has adjusted quite nicely from a run happy first offense to a passing first system it's benefited him quite well.
"Me and my dad were just thinking well maybe it will be ok to go to a pass offense because it's going to open up the run lanes if we are passing a lot and spread out and loosen up the offense."
Keith Lawson is your Jack of the Week.
