FROM THE EAST TEXAS WEATHER CENTER (KTRE) - Significant weather changes are headed to the Piney Woods this weekend.
A cold front will move into East Texas overnight Friday and into early Saturday morning. Along and ahead of the front, we will see a broken line of showers and thunderstorms. Some lingering showers will persist through the early morning hours before tapering off by the afternoon.
Although the rain will move out, the clouds will not. When you combine the clouds with a north wind, it will be on the chilly side all day Saturday, with highs struggling to make it out of the 50s.
If you are heading out to any high school football playoff games tomorrow, make sure you dress warm, as it will be on the cool and damp side.
Even though we may see a break in the rain on Saturday afternoon, look for it to return by Sunday afternoon and last through most of the day on Monday.
With a moderate drought encompassing most of East Texas, we will gladly take any rain we can get at this point in time.
It should be noted that with the clouds and rain around on Sunday and Monday, temperatures will continue to remain on the chilly side.
