11/15/2010 Lufkin Police Report

Criminal Mischief      2000 Block South First Street

At approximately 5:15 A.M. on Monday, November 15, 2010, Lufkin Police Department officers responded to a business located in the 2000 South First Street in reference to an active burglary alarm.  According to the report, upon arrival at the business, the officers found that the bottom portion of glass a glass entry door had been shattered but it did not appear that entry into the building was made.  The report stated that the incident was referred for further investigation.

Theft      1300 Block Myrna Avenue

On Sunday, November 14, 2010 a complainant reported to Lufkin Police Department that between November 01, 2010 and November 08, 2010, an unidentified actor(s) stole a mobile telephone from the complainant's residence, located in the 1300 block of Myrna Avenue.  According to the report, the complainant stated that she did not report the theft at the time it was discovered but that this date she discovered that her son's friend had possession of the telephone and the son's friend told her that he received the telephone from another suspect.  The report stated that the incident was referred for further investigation.

 Criminal Mischief         2600 Block South First Street

At approximately 9:45 A.M. on Sunday, November 14, 2010, a complainant reported to Lufkin Police Department that between 6:00 P.M. on November 13, 2010 and 9:00 A.M. on November 14, 2010 an unidentified actor(s) damaged property in the laundry rooms at Silver Creek apartment complex, located in the 2600 block of South First Street.  According to the report, the complainant stated that the actor(s) damaged a wooden door to the water heater closet but that, at the time of the report, nothing appeared to be taken from or damaged within the closet.  The report stated that the incident was referred for further investigation.

 Assault          1200 Block West Frank Avenue

On Sunday, November 14, 2010, Lufkin Police Department officers responded to Memorial Health Systems Emergency Room in reference to an assault that occurred between 12:50 A.M. and 1:55 A.M. that date at Reo club, located in 3600 block of East Denman Avenue.  According to the report, the complainant stated that a known female suspect knocked the complainant to the floor of the club causing a bump to the complainant's head.  According to the report, a witness stated that the complainant and suspect fought but the witness did not intervene because the fight was "one on one".  The report stated that the incident was referred for further investigation.

Robbery        600 Block North Raguet Street

At approximately 11:00 P.M. on Sunday, November 14, 2010, Lufkin Police Department officers arrested Edwin Jabroskey Simpson (White / Male / 22 / Lufkin) at a Polk Oil Company store, located at 620 North Raguet Street in Lufkin, for the offenses of Robbery, a Second Degree Felony, and Evading Arrest or Detention, a Class A Misdemeanor.  According to the report, a uniformed Lufkin Police Department officer witnessed Mr. Simpson conceal an alcoholic beverage within his clothing and attempt to exit the store without making payment for the beverage.  The report stated that Mr. Simpson ignored the officer's verbal commands that he was under arrest, to place the beverage on the counter, and to place his hands behind his back.  According to the report, Mr. Simpson pushed the officer away and then used his body, 6'3" tall and 260 pound, and momentum to ram the officer into the stores entry doors, breaking the doors and causing minor injury to the officer.  The report stated that Mr. Simpson fled on-foot from the store and was captured by officers in the middle of the street on North Raguet Street.  Mr. Simpson was booked into Angelina County Jail for the offenses of Robbery and Evading Arrest or Detention
