LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) – He's no stranger to helping people in need.

Donn Turner is now involved with "Operation Homefront" -- an effort to collect new, unwrapped toys for military families this Christmas.

With so many being deployed during the holidays, Turner doesn't want a single family to be forgotten.

"Their families are left here. They're left to fend for themselves and a lot of times, more times than not, they are overlooked. So I'm here trying to do what I can to help these families," said Turner.

You can take new unwrapped toys to the Lufkin National Guard Armory on Tulane Drive or to any Lufkin fire station.

To give a financial contribution, you can visit Operationhomefront.net/Texas.

Turner says large boxes are also needed.
