LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) – A Center man is dead after D.P.S. says he failed to yield the right-away in a two car wreck.

Around 7:30 Saturday morning, Wyatt Teel of Center was driving southbound in a 2007 Buick Lacrosse, and tried to turn left across traffic onto County Road 2124.

The Department of Public Safety says he failed to look both ways when turning, and hit a vehicle driving southbound on 87.

Teel, age 59, was not wearing a seatbelt.  He was taken to Shelby Regional Hospital in Center where he died from his injuries about three hours later.

The driver of the other car, Kathy Casey of Shelbyville, sustained lacerations, and is currently in stable condition at the hospital.
