LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - A Lufkin man was booked into the Angelina County Jail on Friday morning on an accusation of injuring another man in a hit-and-run.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, Alfredo Jose Martinez, 18, hit the car of Lester Murphy Jr., 20, at the intersection of Frank Street and Bonner Street on Oct. 31. Martinez hit it hard enough to force Murphy's car to spin completely around.

Witnesses at the wreck told Lufkin Police that it was a hit-and-run accident and police recovered a license plate that fell off the suspect vehicle and matched it up to a woman living in Martinez's home.

Police visited the home of the woman on Nov. 2 and Martinez admitted to hitting the car by accident and fleeing the scene because he did not have a driver's license and had an outstanding citation.

Police charged Martinez with duty for accident involving personal injury, a third-degree felony, because Murphy was injured in the wreck.

He is out of jail on a $2,500 bond.
