LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - An Onalaska man accepted a probation sentence for burglarizing a Lufkin store in October.

Billy Ward Gurley, 30, pleaded guilty Wednesday morning to burglary and evading arrest in District Judge Barry Bryan's courtroom.

According to a previous report, Gurley and James Albert Enfinger Jr., 50, also of Onalaska, allegedly burglarized Rent-a-Center, located at 452 N. Timberland Drive. Witnesses called a description in to police and followed the vehicle down Homer Street to the Lufkin Police station. At the same time, an officer was pulling out of the police station to pursue the vehicle and immediately saw the suspect vehicle. The witnesses stopped pursuing the suspect vehicle once they saw the officer's vehicle.

The police report states the suspects fled from the officers for about three miles before being stopped on Don Boyd Lane. Gurley, who was the driver, was apprehended but Enfinger fled from the area on foot and was apprehended in the 300 block of Church Street, according to the report.

Gurley will serve a five-year probated sentence.
