LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - By Holley Nees - email
LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - Soldiers from across the nation in harm's way will receive a little bit of love from Lufkin this Christmas.
Volunteers with the American Legion Auxiliary in Angelina County worked to put together boxes with snacks, Christmas stockings, and toiletries to send to the troops.
Those deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan receive the boxes once a month, but the group says it's especially important to make sure these boxes make it overseas during the holidays.
Some of the soldiers have named the treats, love from Lufkin boxes.
"I think they get really homesick and in the winter, they get blah," Lucy Burris said. "It's getting really cold over there, so you know they need to know that people do care, that home, it brings home a little closer."

The organization also needs money for postage. Every box is more than $12 to send.
