LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) – The nativity scene on the Houston County Courthouse lawn is the target of a city-wide search. Missing from the manger...  Baby Jesus.

Baby Jesus is believed to have disappeared sometime between 5 pm on November 22nd and the next morning, November 23rd, when it was discovered.

According to Sergeant Romo with Crockett PD, someone found a Baby Jesus in the Crockett Wal-Mart parking lot, and brought it to the police department.

They in turn, took it to courthouse for employees to identify, but it was not the correct Baby Jesus.

Romo says the unidentified Baby Jesus is still in police custody.

For now, the nativity scene's manger sits empty awaiting Baby Jesus' return.
