LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - A Lufkin man was arrested Thursday night after police say he used a BB handgun to rob another man walking along South Third Street.
According to the Lufkin Police report, the man said he was walking on the street when Dion Ray Smith, 28, emerged from a nearby wooded area, displayed a handgun, threatened him and forcibly took money from his pockets.
Police officers found Smith in the 200 block of East Denman Avenue, but Smith ran away from them, according to the report. The officers found Smith hiding under a residence in the 100 block of Conn Avenue at 8:15 p.m. and arrested him. The officers found the handgun used by Smith to commit the robbery, which was a BB gun, according to the report.
Smith was booked into the Angelina County Jail on a charge of aggravated robbery.
