Janie's Banana Pound Cake Christmas Tree

Bananas and pound cake are surprisingly good together. This easy recipe combines

banana pudding and pound cake into a tasty holiday treat!

Custard

6 tbs. Flour

2/3 c. Sugar

1 3/4 c. Milk

1/4 tsp. Salt

2 Egg yolks (slightly beaten)

1 ¼ tsp Vanilla

2 Bananas

½ lemon

1 Plain Baby Jane Pound Cake

Whipping cream

Fruit of choice

Instructions

First, beat egg yolks in a small bowl and set aside.

In a double boiler or heavy pan mix together flour, sugar and salt.

Stir in milk over medium heat.

Stir constantly until mixture thickens (about 15 minutes).

Reduce heat to low.

Add 1/4 cup of hot thickened mixture to egg yolks in bowl.

Beat vigorously until thoroughly mixed (about 30 seconds).

Add this back to the custard mixture on the stove.

Turn heat back up to medium and stir until thoroughly mixed (about 4 minutes).

Turn off heat, add vanilla to mixture and stir.

Pour custard into a clean glass bowl and chill (preferably overnight).

Slice cake into thin (1/2 inch) horizontal layers. Slice bananas. Spread chilled custard

onto each layer and top with banana slices. Stack layers to create the tree.

Garnish with whipped cream, cherries, chocolate or anything that reminds you of the

holidays.

Let your imagination run wild!
